About ACMS Institutional Review Board
The Academy of Chinese Medicine, Singapore (ACMS) Institutional Review Board (IRB) is an independent ethics committee established to safeguard the rights, safety, and well-being of participants in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) research.
Formed in accordance with the Human Biomedical Research Act (HBRA) 2015, the ACMS IRB ensures that all TCM-related research is conducted with integrity, transparency, and respect for ethical standards.
Our multi-disciplinary board includes licensed TCM practitioners, Western-trained medical doctors, pharmacists, legal/ethics experts, and laypersons, providing balanced and impartial review of applications.
Through rigorous review processes, continuing oversight, and adherence to both HBRA requirements and the Ethical Code and Guidelines of the TCMPB, the ACMS IRB supports the development of evidence-based TCM practices while protecting the public interest.
